Microplastic Pollution

Microplastic Pollution

Microplastic Pollution

Microplastics (1-5 mm diam)  is reaching to world's ocean and making huge patches that are visible from space. One of the biggest patch is in pacific ocean.  Microplastics may cause negative impacts on aquatic organisms due to three major reasons,: their small size and shape; chemicals used in plastic pollution and there capacity to adsorb other pollutants.

The sizes of microplastics are within the optimal prey range for the filter, suspension, and detritus feeders, so they readily enter food chains and impact ecosystems by way of ingestion and excretion .

Microplastic and avian

Microplastics within aquatic ecosystem are equally hazardous for avian species rely on aquatic organisms for their survival. This image is from one of the Beach, we went for walk. The fishing lines get into the mouth and entangled two birds.
